Audrey’s Children opens March 28th in theaters across the country.
Audrey’s Children is the true, untold, story of Dr. Audrey Evans, a brilliant pediatric oncologist who touched the lives of thousands of children and families throughout the world. In the late 1960s, Dr. Evans immigrated from England for an opportunity to work as as doctor. She was hired at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where she became a pioneer in combination chemotherapy treatment for neuroblastoma, she spearheaded the development of the Evans Staging Method, and later co-founded the Ronald McDonald House — known today as Ronald McDonald House Charities — along with West Catholic alum and former general manager of the Philadelphia Eagles, Jimmy Murray.
Dr. Evans’ story was written by screenwriter and producer, Julia Fisher Farbman, and brilliantly brought to the screen by the talented vision of director Ami Canaan Mann. Natalie Dormer — known for her role in Game of Thrones — puts on an authentic and beautiful portrayal of who Audrey was. Supported by an amazing cast, starring Jimmi Simpson and Clancy Brown, Audrey’s Children brings the untold story to audiences around the world.
Audrey’s Children is not only a love letter to Audrey, but also to Philadelphia in the 1960s. Audrey’s Children paints a colorful picture of the vast tapestry that’s as Philly during the civil rights movement and brings forth the nuance of what life was for everyone during that time. There’s also a special West Catholic connection in the film.
Not only does a West alum play a pivotal role in the creation of the Ronald McDonald House, but behind the scenes, West Catholic ‘04 Alum, Andre Saballette worked close with i Julia and the rest of the team as the Producers Assistant. Andre brought a unique perspective to the team as he is a pediatric cancer survivor and former CHOP and Ronald McDonald House Charities patient. He knew Audrey from a patient’s perspective and helped as a liaison connecting real patients and their families with the production. Andre currently gives back to the Ronald McDonald House as a volunteer counselor and donor through his production company, BoatHouse Pictures.
