Herb Magee ’59 – West Catholic Legacy Award
Legendary college basketball coach Herb Magee has won over 1,140 games as head coach of Thomas Jefferson University (previously Philadelphia Textile and Philadelphia University). After playing for West Catholic’s 1959 Catholic League champion basketball team, Herb starred on Philadelphia Textile’s team (averaging 29 points a game), and has been its head coach since 1967. Lou Nolan ’63 – Golden Burr Award As the “Voice of the Flyers”, Lou Nolan is the longest-termed public-address announcer in the NHL. He has been employed with the Flyers since their inception in the 1967-68 season and became their announcer in the 1972-73 season. Lou has called over 2,000 games, including the Flyers Stanley Cup championship Rev. Maximilian Maxwell, OSB – ’92 - Brother G. John Owens Award Father Maxmilian, a member of the Order of St. Benedict, was ordained in 2013. He currently resides at St. Vincent Archabbey, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania (the first Benedictine abbey in the United States), where he has had many positions, including Director of Vocations. Father actively assists both the Alumnae and Alumni Associations. Kevin Haney ’95 – Brother Anselm Award and James (JP) Feldmayer '95 – Brother Martin Strickroth Award Kevin Haney, a teacher at Strath Haven High School, and J.P. Feldmayer demonstrated true dedication and compassion as they teamed up to ensure that one of Kevin’s former students and his family escaped from the turmoil in Afghanistan in September 2021. Kevin has been teaching for 23 years. JP is veteran of the U.S. Army and has continued to serve our country as a Foreign Service Officer and Political Officer with the U. S. Sate Department. |
Peg (Henry) Glancey ’55 – Margaret Porter Blue & Gold Award
Peg Glancey has been committed to West Catholic and the Alumnae for over five decades. In addition to working for many years as West Catholic’s Development Director and as Tuition Officer at West Catholic, Peg has been a driving force within the West Catholic Alumnae Association, serving on the Alumnae Association’s Board for 52 years. Jim Britt ’72 – 50th Anniversary Golden Burr Award After a long career as a U.S. Postal Inspector, Jim devoted his time to youth hockey, working with the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation, U.S.A. Hockey, and the Atlantic Prep Athletic Conference, among other organizations. He has been a member of the West Catholic Prep Board of Trustees and currently is VP for Communications for the West Catholic Alumni Association. Ivory V. Allison ’97 – 25th Anniversary Silver Burr Award Currently the National Director for Community Impact for the American Liver Foundation and the President of the Board of Directors of Philadanco, Ivory has dedicated her career to non-profit organization and event planning. Ivory also has worked with the Independence Visitor Center Corp., Welcome America, Inc. and the City of Philadelphia, as well as having served in the Alumni Association’s Board of Trustee. Andrew Brady ’02 – William McGarvey Award Currently the President of West Catholic Prep, Andrew Brady started as a teacher and also led the school’s Institutional Development team. As President, Andrew has led the School through the difficult times created by Covid and was instrumental in shepherding the effort to ensure the future of the School through gaining archdiocesan approval to allow the redevelopment of the School’s parking lot, providing a very substantial endowment for the School. |
