West Catholic Alumni/Alumnae in the

Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade

On Sunday, March 15, 2009

We leave from the DeLasalle Knights of Columbus in Springfield, Delaware County at approximately 10:00 am on buses that will take marchers to 16th and John F. Kennedy Blvd, where the parade steps off.

Jim Coyne, West Catholic Class of 1951, is this year’s parade Grand Marshall!

If you cannot march, there are trackless trolleys that you can ride with the West Catholic group and be a part of this wonderful day!

Upon returning to the Knights, there is a terrific party awaiting all attendees, that we enjoy with our friends from St. Thomas More. The party includes:

A delicious buffet *A tribute to our Honoree, Bishop Joseph McFadden, who will receive the first annual Shamrock Award from West Catholic alums along with St. Thomas More Alums, where Bishop McFadden attended high school. *Our Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Jim Murray, the well known former General Manager of the Philadelphia Eagles and popular radio host! Jim is a West Grad, class of ’56! *Wonderful entertainment from the Falcarragh Grade School marching band from County Donegal! The band are “All Ireland Champions” and a guest of the Philadelphia Donegal Society – they are also marching in the parade! *Our entertainment continues with the terrific Mary Beth and Friends featuring Mary Beth Bonner Ryan, a Graduate of West Catholic Girls’!

!!!!!!! All this, plus a cap with the WC logo to identify all marchers from West Catholic !!!!!!!

The cost is $35.00 per person - $25.00 for the parade & party - $10.00 for the cap. If you cannot attend the parade, but, would like to come to the party, the cost would be $25.00. We estimate returning for the party at approximately 3 p.m.

We will also be selling great looking long sleeved Irish shirts in green for $20.00 each. These are currently available now!
