College Women's Athlete of the Meet

LaTavia Thomas of LSU has been named the College Women's Athlete of
the Meet for relay events after anchoring the Tigers to victories in
both the 4×800m and sprint medley relays. The West Catholic High grad
also ran the third leg on LSU's second-place 4×400m relay.
There was some good PR about WC coming over the PA system when LaTavia
Thomas and Nicole Leach were in an event. Leach wasn't entered in her
specialty (400m hurdles) as her coach said she was holding off on that
event in anticipation of the Olympic Trials. Imagine that and what the
school might be able to do with proper publicity for recruitment of
elem. school athletes.
Thomas was quoted as saying that she ran in her first Penn Relays as a
freshman at WC.

Guys, this is the race that LaTavia Thomas and Nicole Leach were so
excited about as they waited in the paddock beyond the finish line to
run in the 4x400 Championship of America race that you watched above.
Truth to tell, it gave me goose bumps watching this in the stadium,
right above the paddock area where I was so privileged to watch these
2 superstars getting so excited about the progress of the WC race
that just preceded their own race for the Penn Relays premier
Championship of America 4x400m gold.
